Eid-ul-Azha 22 Aug
The holy Eid-ul-Azha - one of the two biggest festivals for Muslims - is set to be celebrated in Bangladesh on 22 August, Wednesday, as the Zil-Hajj moon was sighted in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country this evening.
The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting held at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office on Sunday evening after reviewing information of the moon sighting, says a press statement.
National Moon Sighting Committee chief and religious affairs minister Matior Rahman chaired the meeting, it adds.
Eid-ul-Azha, however, will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on 21 August (Tuesday) as the moon for the month of Zil-hajj was sighted there on Saturday evening.
