Interpol has issued a red notice upon BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman on charge of ‘murder and explosion of hand grenade in the Awami League meeting’.
The name and details including photograph of Tarique Rahman, now staying in London, have been posted as a wanted person on the Interpol website.
However, there is no date mentioned in the red notice issued by the international body of the police.
Asked about this, national central bureau chief of Interpol Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan said, “We have sent this notice long time ago.’
Tarique Rahman is the latest name among 67 Bangladeshi nationals in the Interpol list.
The name of Abdul Jabbar, the absconding convict of crimes against humanity, is also there in the list.
Tarique Rahman was born on 20 November 1967 and he can speak Bangla, English and Urdu, according to the Interpol notice.
When asked, one of his lawyers and BNP joint secretary general Mahbub Uddin Khokon said they are not aware of any such notice. “Interpol does not work to implement the agenda of any government,” he added.
