Robbers attack Gazipur resort; 5 injured

At least five people, including two officials of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) were injured as robbers attacked Rajendrapur Eco Resort in Gazipur early Friday and looted valuables from guests and its staff.

Witnesses said a group of around 50 robbers along with sharp weapons attacked the resort and beat up the resort employees and the visitors and looted mobile phones and cash worth Tk 20,000 from them around 2:30 am on Friday.

Uttara BRTA official Ashrafuzzaman, his driver Nurul Islam, Gazipur BRTA inspector Wazed Hossain, and resort employee Ismail Hossain and another man were injured in the incident.

Hotapara police camp in-charge Nazmul Haque confirmed the incident and said four of the injured were sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital while Ashrafuzzaman was sent to Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhaka.
