The acting principal of Willes Little Flower School and College Md Abul Hossain stepped down on Tuesday night following a day-long protest of its teachers and employees.
A teacher of the school confirmed the development to Prothom Alo at around 8:00pm on Tuesday night. Abul Hossain also confirmed that he has submitted his resignation letter to the deputy commissioner of Dhaka.
Earlier, terming the principal as 'incompetent', teachers and employees staged a protest at the institution in the capital's Kakrail seeking their several demands including the removal of Abul Hossain and forming a special governing body to run the institution.
At the demonstration, officials of Dhaka district administrations went to the school and sat for a discussion. Later, Abul Hossain stepped down at night.
Teachers alleged that Abul Hossain has been the acting principal of the institution for six years. During the period, no permanent principal has been appointed. As a result, there is no discipline in school. The quality of education is decreasing day to day with the decrease in the number of students.
Besides, both the current and retired teachers are being deprived of fair rights. That is why they came out and staged a protest against the principal, they added.
