The operation of public transportation will remain halted countrywide from Monday at 6:00am to Thursday morning as the country on Sunday has logged the highest-ever coronavirus deaths since the pandemic broke out in 8 March 2020.

The cabinet division issued a notification on Sunday mentioning these latest guidelines.

At the same time, all types of shopping malls, markets, tourist spots, resorts, community and recreation centres will remain closed.

The notification reads catering services of hotels-restaurants will be available between 8:00am and 8:00pm.

The authorities of public and private offices concerned will arrange necessary vehicles to pick up and drop their staff.

However, rickshaw and goods-laden vehicles will operate as usual. The government will control the vehicular movement through patrolling.

On Saturday, a reliable source disclosed that the country would be brought under the lockdown in a limited scale from Monday and all-out lockdown from Thursday to stem the sudden surge of Covid-19 transmission.
