Vaccinating to restart from 19 June with Sinopharm and Pfizer
The country is set to restart the vaccination campaign on 19 June with the Sinopharm vaccine from China and the Pfizer one from Belgium in a bid to fight Covid-19 pandemic.
Health minister Zahid Maleque made this disclosure on Monday to the journalists while attending a doa mahfil to mark the death of his mother at capital’s Mohakhali.
China has sent a total of 1.1 million doses to Bangladesh as gift. Of them, 30,000 doses will be for Chinese nationals living in the country. The remaining 1.07 million will be used to vaccinate as many as 5, 35,000 people.
Other than this, the country has received some 106,000 Covid-19 doses through COVAX facility. Another consignment of over 1 million Covid-19 vaccines will land in Bangladesh very soon.
Meanwhile, a pact between Bangladesh and China over the purchase of 10 million Sinopharm shots is at final phase.
