Abani wins first Mrs Bangladesh

Munzarin Mahbub Abani has been crowned as champion of Mrs World Bangladesh 2019.

The beauty pageant was the first of its kind in Bangladesh. And, Abani, a social worker and a model by profession, battled out nine other contestants to claim the coveted crown following a grand finale held at Gulshan Club on Saturday night.

More than 2,000 married women participated in the beauty pageant.

Rabeya Sultana Robi and Mati Siddiqui became the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Abani also walked off with a cash prize of Tk 100,000. She will now represent Bangladesh in the Mrs World contest to be held in USA's Las Vegas on 6 December.

"It's a great win for me. My family is also happy. If I can represent Bangladesh in Las Vegas, it will be an excellent achievement for me," said an elated Abani.

The Saturday night witnessed actor Shahidul Alam Sachchu, elocutionist Shimul Mustapha, woman entrepreneur Sangeeta Khan, beauty expert Saleha Sarwar, dermatologist Tauhida Rahman and Youth Bangla Cultural Forum president Muna Chowdhury, among others.
