The temperature in Panchagarh dropped below 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday, hinting at a rough winter ahead, reports UNB.
It begins to warm up after sunrise but gets increasingly cold after 3:00pm, according to the locals.
Met office recorded 10C on Friday and 9C on Saturday as fog disrupted transportation and movement of people.
Patients suffering from various cold-related diseases have already started visiting local hospitals and clinics. Doctors say they are expecting more patients.
Md Sirajuddaoula Polin, resident medical officer of the sadar hospital, said most of the patients suffering from diarrhoea and pneumonia were being admitted to the hospital.
“We’re struggling to provide services as we don’t have medicine and child specialist here,” UNB quoted him saying.
Deputy commissioner Sabina Yasmin said they have already sent 28,000 warm clothes to five upazilas. “We’ve sought more allocation for winter clothes this year,” she told the news agency.
