India has appointed Pranay Kumar Verma as the next high commissioner of India to Bangladesh.
Verma, an officer of Indian Foreign Service batch of 1994, is expected to take up the assignment shortly, said a press release of India’s Ministry of External Affairs on Friday.
Verma, currently the ambassador of India to Socialist Republic of Vietnam, will replace Vikram Doraiswami.
Doraiswami, the current Indian high commissioner in Bangladesh, is expected to take over as his country’s envoy to the UK, Indian media reported.
Doraiswami, an IFS officer of 1992 batch, took the charge in 2020.
