Becoming man-of-the-match in dream Test debut on Saturday, Bangladesh paceman Mustafizur Rahman has etched his name again in the record books. He is now the lone cricketer in the world cricket who earned man-of-the-match credit in both Test and ODI debuts.
The swing magician’s four-wicket haul propelled Tigers to put a good fight against mighty South Africa in the first Test match which was called off on the 5th day due to incessant rains.
Earlier in June, Mustafizur became man-of-the-match on his ODI debut grabbing five wickets against visiting India.
Asked about his achievement, the left-arm medium pacer with a smile on his face said, “It’s the will of Almighty.”
A total of 100 cricketers became man-of-the-match in their debut, either ODI or Test matches. But, no one had the unique record of being man-of-the-match in both the ODI and Test debut matches before Mustafizur.
The 19-year-old pacer said he does not bother about his records. “Doing something for the country is my goal. I try to play my best to shine country’s image,” he said.
About his sudden popularity, the star cricketer said, “No change has happened in my life.”
The youngster was born on 6 September, 1995, in Satkhira.
