Shakib Al Hassan, representing Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), will be the highest paid local player in the upcoming fourth edition of franchise-based local cricket league.
He being a player of A-plus category will get at least Tk 5.5 million.
Other than Shakib, there are six other local players in the A-plus category.
Of them, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah will receive at least Tk 5 million, while Sabbir Rahman and Soumya Sarkar will receive at least Taka 4 million.
The local players who were sold in the category A will receive at least Tk 2.5 million. Players in the category A also include Al-Amin Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Anamul Haque, Imrul Kayes, Liton Das, Nasir Hossain, Shuvagata Hom and Mohammad Mithun.
Players in the category B will receive at least Tk 1.8 million, C category will receive at least Tk 1.2 million, and D category will receive at least Tk 0.5 million.
Foreign players have also been categorised in four groups. Players in the A category (including Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi) will receive at least $70 thousand, B category players will receive at least $50 thousand, C category players will receive at least $40 thousand and D category players will receive at least $30 thousand.
BPL governing council member Ismail Haider Mallik told Prothom Alo that the prices of the players are yet to be fixed, and will be determined finally through negotiation between the players and the teams.
