10 journalists injured in attack on Satkhira Press Club
At least 10 journalists were injured in an attack by criminals on the press club in Satkhira on Thursday noon, reports UNB.
Press club president and freedom fighter Abu Ahmed, former president and district correspondent of channel I Abul Kalam Azad, Prothom Alo staff correspondent Kalyan Banerjee, general secretary and also district correspondent of Somoy TV Mamtaz Ahmed Bapi, Mohona TV correspondent Abdul Jalil and former general secretary Abdul Bari were among the injured.
Witnesses said that about one hundred criminals stormed the press club around noon. First they disconnected the CCTV connection and then attacked the journalists.
The injured were taken to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
Satkhira deputy commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal, police superintendent Sajjadur Rahman, officer-in-Charge Mostafizur Rahman and senior officials visited the press club.
Additional police have been deployed in the area.
