Detectives on Tuesday pressed charges against nine people in the case of killing of four schoolboys at Sundrateki village in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj district.
Abdul Muktadir, officer-in-charge of Habiganj detective branch of police, submitted the chargesheet before the court.
Those indicted in the murder case are Abdul Ali Baghal, Jewel, Habibur Rahman Arju, Rubel Miah, Shaheb Sayeb, Billal, Ustar and Babul Miah. Among them, while three accused are on the run.
Earlier, on February 17 last, four schoolboys were found buried at Sundrateki village in Bahubal upazila, barely a week after they had gone missing.
Informed by locals, police recovered the bodies of Zakaria Ahmed Shuvo, 8, son of Wahid Miah, his two cousins -Tajel Miah, 10, son of Abdul Aziz, Monir Miah, 7, son of Abdal Miah - and Ismail Hossain, 10, son of Abdul Quadir.
A murder case was then filed with Bahubal Police Station. Later, the case was handed over to the Detective Branch of police.
Later, on February 24, Bachchu Mia who was an accused in the four-child murder case was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Chunarughat upazila of the district.
