Many billboards across the city have been covered with campaign banners of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders of Dhaka North and South city units.
The business promotion billboards of the various companies have been covered up with the banners of the BCL city posts aspirant leaders.
The BCL leaders set up the banners targetting the rallies of the Dhaka North and South city that are scheduled to be held on 28 and 30 May respectively.
The leaders neither paid any money nor they took permission from the owners of the billboards.
BCL presidents of both city units admitted the matter, saying they assured the owners of the billboards that the banners will be removed after the upcoming rallies are wrapped up.
On anonymity, a Dhaka city BCL leader said, “Why don’t you understand? Some irregularities of the ruling party should be overlooked. There is nothing to report in this regard. The banners will be removed after the rallies.”
Asked about the issue, Dhaka North BCL president SM Robiul Islam said, “The candidates, who set banners did not take permission. They did it from their own responsibility. But the banners will be removed after the rallies.”

No one took permission and no one gave permission in this regard, he added.
