Noted cultural personality and author Fakhruzzaman Chowdhury died at the age of 74 on Friday.
He was former director (administration) of Bangladesh Television.
He breathed his last at his residence at Sector 12 of Uttara area in Dhaka at about 9:00pm on Thursday.
He was buried at the Urrara Sector 12 graveyard after the Jummah prayers on Friday.
Fakhruzzaman Chowdhury is the husband of renowned television and radio actress Dilara Zaman. He was also the elder brother of Ahmed Zaman Chowdhury, an eminent cine-journalist, scriptwriter, lyricist and editor of weekly entertainment magazine “Chitrali”.
Dilara Zaman told Prothom Alo that Fakhruzzaman Chowdhury had long been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. "After the detection of the disease, he received treatment abroad. He was receiving treatment in Dhaka in the last one year."
An author, translator of repute and columnist, Fakhruzzaman Chowdhury received the Bangla Academy Award for his outstanding contributions to the literary arena.
