The family members of convicted war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed met him at the central jail on Friday.

After the visit, Mojaheed’s wife Tamanna-e-Jahan told newsmen that she hoped for justice in the review petition verdict.

Mojaheed is in good physical condition, said his son Ali Ahmed Mabrur.

Ali Ahmed Mabrur said he, his mother, two brothers and a sister, visited Mojaheed as part of their regular visits.

Lawyers of the Jamaat leader met him at Dhaka central jail on 3 October.

Later Mojaheed’s counsel Shishir Monir said the condemned Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general would file a petition with the Supreme Court seeking a review of its verdict upholding his death penalty for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.

On 30 September, the Supreme Court released the full verdicts awarding death penalty to Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for their crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury is in the Kasempur jail, Gazipur.
