Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River have remained suspended due to poor visibility caused by dense fog early Monday, reports news agency UNB.
The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) suspended the ferry services and plying of the water vessels on the route since 3:30 am due to blurred visibility caused by thick fog, said Mohiuddin Russell, manager (Commercial) of BIWTC at Aricha.
Four ferries-Barkat, Keramat Ali, Hasna Hena and Banolata-remained stuck in the middle of the river with 100 vehicles and passengers on board while seven others remained anchored at Paturia and five at Daulatdia ghats.
The ferry services will resume once the visibility returns, he added.
