Fulgazi upazila chairman murdered

Fulgazi upazila council chairman Ekramul Haque was shot and burnt to death in front of Bilashi Hotel at Feni Sadar upazila at about 11:00am on Tuesday.

The killers at first fired shots at the car carrying Ekramul Haque and his followers and immediately set fire to the vehicle.

A total of three followers of Ekramul Haque got burn injuries.

The injured are former Fulgazi Sadar upazila chairman Mohiuddin, local newspaper editor Farhad and car driver Mamun. They were admitted to Feni Sadar Hospital.

Farhad said miscreants shot bullets at the ruling Awami League-backed upazila council chairman Ekramul Haque and he died of injuries on the spot. The attackers set fire to the vehicle within a moment.

Later, the police and fire fighters put out the fire and recovered the charred body of Ekramul from the car. The body was sent at Feni Sadar hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.

The killers, however, managed to get away.
