Hatred pouring in for Badrul

In a unique way, people of Sylhet on Tuesday showed their hatred to Badrul Alam who hacked college girl Khadija Akter Nargis, reports news agency UNB.

Bangladesh Human Rights Journalists’ Commission organised a ‘symbolic spitting’ programme at the Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar in the morning to show their anger to Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Badrul.  

Portraits of Badrul Alam, a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, who was suspended for attempting on the life of Khadija, were attached to two dustbins.

People from all strata, including teachers and students, spat on Badrul’s portraits to condemn the brutal attack on Khadija, a student of Sylhet Govt Women’s College.

Speakers urged all to resist such kinds of incident if happens before their eyes. They also demanded Badrul’s exemplary punishment.

On 3 October, Khadija was stabbed allegedly by SUST unit BCL leader Badrul Alam on her way home from college following the refusal of his proposal for having an affair with him.

Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rescued Khadija and caught Badrul from the spot and handed him over to police after giving him a good thrashing.

Khadiza is now fighting for her life at Square Hospitals Ltd in the capital.
