The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has found daily Janakantha editor, Atiqullah Khan Masud, and executive editor Swadesh Roy, guilty of contempt of court charges.
A six-member Appellate Division bench, led by chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, gave the verdict on Thursday morning.
The apex court ordered authorities to hold the Janakantha editor and executive editor in court till the conclusion of the proceedings.
The Appellate Division bench also fined Tk 10,000 each, in default, to serve 7 days in custody.
On 10 August, the Supreme Court set today (Thursday) as the date for delivering the verdict on the contempt of court ruling against the journalists.
On July 29, the SC issued the ruling against Atiqullah and Swadesh for publishing an article about the family of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.
Swadesh Roy wrote the article on July 16.
