
Veteran journalist Sheikh Rakib Uddin died at a city hospital on Saturday at the age of 85.
Rakib Uddin, diplomatic correspondent of The Independent and also founder vice-president of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB), breathed his last at Birdem Hospital at 5:30am.
He had been suffering from various old age complications, reports UNB.
The namaj-e-janaza of Rakib Uddin was held at the National Press Club at 11:30am.
He worked at the United News of Bangladesh (UNB) and Daily Azad (as chief reporter).
Rakib Uddin, also a member of the Jatiya Press Club, was buried at Azimpur grave yard after Zohr prayers.
