Khaleda reveals Vision-2030 plan

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson, Khaleda Zia, on Saturday unveiled her party’s Vision-2030 plan to turn the country into higher middle income one if her party returns to power, reports UNB news agency.

Addressing the inaugural session of her party’s 6th national council at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh she elaborated the vision-2030 outline for 30 minutes.

Khaleda said her party drafted the Vision-2030 plan which will be presented before the countrymen very soon.

At the very beginning of her speech, Khaleda recalled the outstanding contributions of the country’s great national leaders Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Haque, Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to make the country independent.

Khaleda said her party will introduce bicameral parliament and the country’s intellectuals and experts on different sectors will be made members of the upper house to ensure country’s development.

She also said if voted to power her party will take well-sought out and creative plan to elevate the country’s economic growth to double digit.

She said her party will introduce a positive quality in the country coming out of the current politics of vengeance, confrontation and annihilation.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia, also former prime minister, inaugurated her party’s sixth national council amid a festive atmosphere in the city on Saturday morning.

Khaleda, the widow of party founder Ziaur Rahman, opened the council by hoisting the national flag at 10:48 am at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.

She also released a bunch of balloons and pigeons.

Around 30,000 grassroots level leaders, councillors, and 8,000 delegates of BNP gathered at the council venue which was decked out with flags, streamers and flowers, posters containing council theme, slogans and logo.

Leaders of different political parties, business and professional bodies, foreign diplomats and intellectuals attended the inaugural ceremony.
