Law minister avoids programme participated by Shamsuddin

Law minister Anisul Huq did not attend a programme in Dhaka on Tuesday where retired Supreme Court judge AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury was a discussant.

Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee organised a programme on the birth anniversary of late national professor Kabir Chowdhury with the law minister as the chief guest.

Nirmul Committee vice president Muntasir Mamun said, “We can guess, but we don’t want to tell anything about the reason of the minister’s absence.”

Government is irked at the recent derogatory comments by AHM Shamsuddin demanding resignation of Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.

Anisul Huq told Prothom Alo, “As a minister, the matter is very embarrassing and disgusting for me. And so, I decided not to attend the programme.”
