The government has appointed Masud Bin Momen as Bangladesh’s next foreign secretary.
He succeeds Shahidul Haque who retired Monday.
Masud is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
During his distinguished diplomatic career, Masud served in stations like New York, Islamabad, New Delhi and Kathmandu in various capacities.
Before becoming foreign secretary, he also served as ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy and Japan and as Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York.
Masud Bin Momen obtained his MA in international relations from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, USA.
He also obtained his Honours and Masters degree in economics with distinction from the University of Dhaka.
He is married and has two children.
