
Member of Parliament from Narayanganj-5 constituency and Jatiya Party presidium member Nasim Osman died at a hospital in India in early hours of Wednesday.
District Jatiya Party general secretary Akram Ali said he died at about 12:00am on Tuesday at a hospital of Deradun in India.
Nasim had been admitted to the hospital at Deradun with acidity problems on 27 April.
Nasim Osman was elected as lawmaker in 1986, 1988, 2008 and 2014 from the parliamentary seat. His father A K M Samsuzzoha was also elected as lawmaker in 1970 and 1973 from the same constituency.
Osman is survived by his wife, Parvin Akhter, one son, Azmeri Osman and two daughters, Airin and Afrin Osman, and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
Nasim's younger brother, Shamim Osman, is the Member of Parliament from Narayanganj-4 (Fatulla-Siddhirganj) constituency. Another brother Selim Osman, is the president of Narayanganj Chember and Commerce and Industries and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).
