A newborn baby girl was rescued from a dustbin near Janata Housing in the capital's Mohammadpur area early Saturday, reports UNB.
Cleaning staff of Dhaka South City Corporation found the infant inside a dustbin around 5:30am while evacuating the bin and informed police, said sub-inspector Faruk Hossain of Mohammadpur police station.
"Barely several hours into her birth, the baby was dumped into the dustbin, even there were no clothes on her body," the SI said.
Later, police rescued the baby and rushed it to Mohammadpur Arman Health Care from where she was moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment around 2:15pm, the SI said.
The girl was admitted to the pediatric department where she has been given all necessary medical care, said a duty doctor.
Her condition was better, the doctor added.
