RUET shut down indefinitely

Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has been shut down infinitely following violent clashes among Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) activists. 

University in a syndicate meeting on Thursday night took the decision. 

Earlier on Thursday morning, ICS activists tried to inhibit a publication ceremony at civil engineering department of the university showing solidarity with Jamaat-imposed country-wide strike. ICS is popularly known as a political associate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. 

This incident spread tension on the campus. 

Later, in the late afternoon a group of ICS activists entered into the campus from outside. 

Police try to prevent the ICS activists, but they got into fighting with the police. 

When Motihar police tried to disperse them, they pelted the police with stones and throw crude bombs. 

Police shot rubber bullets and tear shells. 

In the mean time, BCL activists joined the police and chased the ICS activists.

Later, the all of the sides got into clash.
