New MP Amzad Hossain takes oath

Newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Sirajganj-3 constituency Gazi Amzad Hossain Milon was sworn in on Monday.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath to the Awami League MP at a simple ceremony at her Jatiya Sangsad office, said a PID handout.

On November 30 last, Amzad Milon was elected uncontested in the by-polls, slated for December 23, as the nomination paper of his lone rival independent candidate Akhtarul Islam was cancelled by the returning officer during scrutiny.

The by-polls in the parliamentary constituency were held as the seat fell vacant following the death of Awami League MP Ishaque Hossain Talukder on October 6 this year.
