Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has been hospitalised as she fell ill, reports UNB.
She was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka on Saturday night with hypertension, said a closed aide to the Speaker. “She’s now fine,” he said wishing anonymity.
He also said President Abdul Hamid and Chief Justice SK Sinha visited the ailing Speaker at the CMH. They stayed there for some time and wished her early recovery.
Born in 1966, Dr Sharmin was elected the first female Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad in April, 2013.
She took oath as the Speaker for her second term in 2014 after she was elected MP from Rangpur-6 constituency.
