Stern action against attempt to leak question: Nahid

Amid widespread criticism centering question paper leaks in different public examinations, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Thursday warned the offenders of tough action to thwart their criminal activities.

The Minister issued the warning at an inter-ministerial meeting convened to discuss the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations on Thursday.

“None will be spared. Stern action will be taken against those found involved in question paper leak, its sale or handover and posting on Facebook,” he said.

He urged the law-enforcing agencies to extend their all-out efforts to nab those involved in the crime.

As the printing of the national level examinations question papers began Thursday, surveillance has been increased in the BG Press area, Nahid noted. Besides, coaching centers, cyber cafes, photocopy shops have also been brought under strict surveillance, he added.

The education minister mentioned that CCTV cameras have been installed in the premises of BG Press, to prevent any attempt of question paper leak and additional law enforcers will be deployed there if necessary.

Education secretary Nazrul Islam Khan, Director General of Secondary and Higher Education Directorate Prof Fahmida Khatun, Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof Dilara Hafiz, and representatives of cabinet division, Public Administration Ministry, Home Ministry, BG Press, BTRC, RAB, DB , CID and SB were present.

A high-powered committee was formed at the meeting to hold the SSC and the equivalent examinations of 2015 within an atmosphere of peace and tranquility for the examinees.
