State minister for posts and telecommunications, Tarana Halim, on Thursday claimed she had received threats for her stance on banning illegal SIMs and VOIPs.
“Somebody called me at my secretariat office’s phone and said that I should stop my work on banning illegal SIMs and VOIPs. The caller asked me to ‘go slow’,” she told Prothom Alo.
“Why should I go slowly? Who do you think you are to give me orders?” she retorted.
When asked about if she have any idea who could be the caller, she said, “ I assume it is someone influential. However, this threat won’t stop my work. I am doing it as per the order of the prime minister.”
The state minister said she informed the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) about the threat.
