British Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for International Development Lynne Featherstone arrives Bangladesh on Sunday for a three-day trip.

This will be her first visit to Bangladesh since she was appointed as parliamentary under secretary of state for international development on 2012.

Diplomatic sources said she is coming to Bangladesh as follow up actions of the first-ever Girl Summit held on July 22 in London, which was aimed at mobilising domestic and international efforts to end female genital mutilation and child, early and forced marriage within a generation.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the Girl Summit in which Bangladesh renewed its firm commitment to eliminating child marriage.

During her visit to Bangladesh, Lynne will call on Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam apart from other engagements.

She will also visit the UK-funded various development programmes in Bangladesh. Before leaving Dhaka, Lynne will meet the press on October 28.
