UPDF activist shot dead in Khagrachhari

A member of a faction of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF-Prosit) was killed in a gunfight with rivals in Dewanpara area of Matiranga upazila in Khagrachhari on Thursday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Arjun Chakma alias Borga, 38. 

Officer-in-charge of Matiranga police station Shamsuddin Bhuiyan said two UPDF groups locked into a gunfight over establishing supremacy in the area in the morning, killing Arjun on the spot. 

Police went to the spot on information and recovered the body and a firearm from there, he said. 

The body was sent to sadar hospital for autopsy, he said.
