
Bed of roses -- this is exactly what you would feel in Sadullapur, popularly known as Golap Gram (village of roses).
Blood red roses are everywhere in Sadullapur, Shaympur, Kamalpur and Bangnibari villages in Birulia union of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka city.
Alongside roses, flower cultivators plant white roses, gerbera and gladiolus, too.
People come from different parts of the city to visit the villages of flowers.
Parvez Khandaker, an employee of a private organisation, came here from city's Kafrul area.
"I visit this place quite often and walk around in these beautiful villages," he said.
"It is simply amazing," said another visitor, Golam Mustafa Kabir.
Rose cultivator of Shaympur village, Gopal Chandra said most of visitors buy flowers when they return home.
Flower cultivators collect flowers and sell them in the bazaars near the gardens. Traders from different parts of the county purchase flower to supply them in wholesale and retail flower shops.
How to get to the flower village?
Visitors have to go to Gabtoli Mazar Road or Mirpur-1 circle from where they have to reach Diabari Battola Ghat. Trawlers head towards Sadullapur every 30 minutes from Diabari Battola Ghat, with Tk 20 being the fare for every single person.
It takes approximately half an hour to reach Sadullapur Ghat by trawler.
People can also go there in their private cars via Mirpur Beribadh.
Visitors can have their meal with traditional Bangladeshi foods in local restaurants in Sadullapur Ghat.
Going to Golap Gram is a must for people who love to indulge in the beauty of nature once in a while.
