Moghbazar Blast

Five-member probe body formed

Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarter has formed a five-member committee to investigate into the massive blast in a building near Moghbazar Wireless Gate on Sunday evening.

Brigadier general Md Sazzad Hussain, director general of Fire Service and Civil Defence, revealed this to the media after visiting the site late Sunday night.

“The committee has been asked to submit a report within 7 working days,” Md Sazzad added.

The fire service chief also suspected gas leakage as the most possible cause of the blast.

Meanwhile, police discarded the possibility of militant involvement behind the blast.

”Splinters would have been scattered at the scene if it were a bomb blast,” said DMP commissioner Shafiqul Islam.

BSS reports, at least seven people were killed and 50 others injured in the blast that took place in the city’s Moghbazar area Sunday evening.
