CCS Volunteer receives Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award

CCS Volunteer (CCS Shecchasebi), the volunteer platform of Conscious Consumer Society (CCS), won the 'Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteer Award 2020' for its voluntary work during Covid-19 pandemic across Bangladesh, said a press release.

CCS Volunteer, formerly known as 'Coronai Volunteer', received the award at the concluding ceremony of the year-long programmes under the Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020 held at the Osmani Auditorium in Dhaka on 30 December 2021.

The youth and sports ministry introduced the award under the Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020 to recognize the volunteers working across the world during the pandemic.

As many as 182 individuals and organisations were selected for the award out of 4 million (40 lakh) contestants from 89 countries worldwide

Md Ashraful Islam, Moulvibazar district coordinator of CCS Volunteer, participated in the competition on behalf of the CCS Volunteer.

President Abdul Hamid joined the event as chief guest from Bangabhaban virtually. Presided over by the state minister for youth and sports Zahid Ahsan Rasel, foreign minister Ak Abdul Momen and secretary general of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hussein Ibrahim Taha attended the event.

At the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, CCS mobilized around 11,000 volunteers under the banner of Coronai Shecchasebi in 63 districts and 345 upazilas across the country. The CCS renamed the platform as CCS Shecchasebi in December 2020.

During the lockdown, the CCS Volunteer provided food assistance to 14,000 families across Bangladesh. They also arranged cash assistance to around 2,000 students in seven universities with 100 poor students in Islamic University Kushtia receiving Tk 2,000 a month.
