Tax return submission deadline extended by two months

The income tax return submission deadline at the individual level has been extended by two months.

Individual persons will be able to submit return till 31 January, according to a circular of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Wednesday.

According to the rule, the last day for return submission is tomorrow, Thursday.

NBR sources said as per the extended deadline, the taxpayers will be able to submit returns till 31 January instead of 30 November.

Company owners will be able to submit returns till 28 February 2024 instead of January 15 2024.

NBR has targeted four million return submissions in the current 2023-24 financial year.

However, half of the target has not been submitted till the date.
