A 55-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by some people in the Amjhupi Purbapara area of the district’s Sadar upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Abul Bashar Molla, a resident of the Amjhupi area.
Shah Dara Khan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Abul bashar’s son Salahuddin had constructed a speed breaker in front of his grocery shop.
On Wednesday, Salauddin had an altercation with the driver and the salesman of Speed Energy Drink company as their vehicle got stuck on the speed breaker.
At one stage, the workers of Meherpur Palli Bidyut Samity also joined them and started beating Salauddin. When Abul Bashar tried to save his son, he was also beaten up.
A critically injured Abul died on the way to hospital, the OC said.
