RAB cordons off Nilphamari house suspecting militant hideout

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday cordoned off a house in Nilphamari Sadar upazila suspecting it to be a militant hideout.

Members of RAB have reportedly found an explosive there. A team of RAB’s bomb disposal unit is working there to diffuse the explosive.

The law enforcement agency has arrested five people from that house. They have been cordoning off the house since the morning.

RAB’s additional director general (operations) and director of its legal and media wing have reached the spot in Majhapara Putihari area in Nilphamari Sadar from Dhaka by a helicopter.

Assistant director of RAB’s legal and media wing, SSP ANM Imran Khan said that the RAB has detected an explosive reminiscent of IED. A team of RAB’s bomb disposal unit is diffusing the explosive. RAB has arrested five from there, he added.
