Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, expelled the five leaders and activists of its Islamic University (IU) unit over torturing Fulpori Khatun at the university’s Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall.

In this regard, the BCL on Wednesday issued a press release signed by its president Saddam Hossain and general secretary Sheikh Wali Asif. 

The five expellees are: vice president Sanjida Chowdhury alias Ontora, activist Halima Khatun alias Urmi, Ishrat Jahan alias Meem, Tabassum Islam and Mowabiya Jahan.      

The press release reads they were expelled on charges of tarnishing the image of the organisation by involving in the anti-organisational and criminal activities.
