The cyclone 'Mocha' is likely to hit between Saturday evening and Sunday early on Teknaf and Myanmar coasts, said the state minister for disaster management and relief Enamur Rahman, adding it may turn into a 'super  cyclone'.

The state minister told this to Prothom Alo on Wednesday evening. The wind speed during the cyclone may range between 180km and 220km, he added.

The meteorological department said the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal may turn into a cyclone after Wednesday evening.

Enamur Rahman said the government has already taken several steps to tackle the cyclone.

"We have prepared 573 cyclone centers in Cox’s Bazar district. Instructions have been given to the administrations and the volunteers. We have allotted 14 tonnes of dry cake, Tk 2 million and 200 metric tonnes of rice for the cyclone centers. Besides, the leaves of all government officials in Cox’s Bazar have been cancelled," the state minister further said.
