The government has decided to remove director (hospital) of the health directorate Aminul Hasan from his post amid controversy over various scams in the country's health sector.
A health ministry official, on condition of anonymity, confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo on Wednesday.
“It’s certain that he (Aminul Hasan) will not be at this post anymore. It would be finalised by today,” the ministry official said.
Earlier on Tuesday, director general (DG) of the health directorate Abul Kalam Azad resigned amid severe criticism over irregularities in the country’s health sector.
The DG of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) handed over his resignation letter to the public administration ministry.
Public administration ministry’s secretary Sheikh Yousuf Harun on Wednesday morning told Prothom Alo that the ministry was starting the process of receiving the resignation letter.
Allegations of widespread irregularities, corruption and mismanagement of the DGHS were always there. But, the government body came at the centre of criticism after several incidents of fraudulence in the health sector were brought to light of late.
Most recently, scams of Regent Hospital and JKG healthcare hit the headlines and the concerned government bodies were widely criticised for either abetting or overlooking the irregularities.
