India donates buses to Chhayanaut
India has donated two school buses to Nalanda Uccho Bidyalaya run by Chhayanaut, a Bangladeshi cultural institution devoted to Bengali culture, reports UNB.
Indian high commissioner in Dhaka Riva Ganguly Das today handed over the buses to Nalanda Uccho Bidyalaya in a virtual ceremony, said a press release here.
Chhayanaut executive president Sarwar Ali, vice president Khairul Anam Shakil and general secretary Laisa Ahmed Lisa, and Nalonda Uccho Bidyalaya headmistress Shumona Biswas joined the online ceremony.
According to the release, the school buses would facilitate the school management and Chhayanaut to ease the travel routine of their students.
Speaking on the occasion, the Indian high commissioner said that Chhayanaut has through its dedication and hard work kept Bangladesh’s Bengali heritage alive over the last several decades.
By practicing, promoting and training generations of artists, Chhayanaut has deeply impacted the Bangladeshi society and its value system, Riva Ganguly said, adding “We cherish our friendship with Chhayanaut and are privileged to support them”.
Nalonda Uccho Bidyalaya and Chhayanaut thanked the Indian high commission for the gift and said that it will be of great assistance for them in running their activities.
