COVID-19 patient flees Sylhet hospital

A coronavirus infected patient who was undergoing treatment at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet fled the hospital on Thursday, reports news agency UNB.

Faruk Ahmed, in-charge of Osmani Medical College and Hospital, said a pregnant woman was admitted to the hospital and gave birth to a dead child on 22 April.

The woman developed coronavirus symptoms at the hospital and the hospital authorities collected her samples for tests. The tests confirmed on Thursday that the patient got infected.

After getting the report, the woman left the hospital secretly.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Sylhet division rose to 49 as 16 more people were diagnosed with the highly contagious virus on Thursday, said deputy director of Osmani Medical College and Hospital Himangshu Lal Roy.
