Electronic passport or e-passport service was launched in port city on Sunday, BSS reports.
Divisional in charge E-passport lieutenant colonel Mohammad Nurul Alam inaugurated the e-passport service this afternoon.
It is learned that the application form in e-passport also has to be filled up as per National Identity Card (NID) or Birth Registration Certificate. Juvenile applicants (under 18 years of age) who do not have National Identity Card (NID) must have input parents NID number in the application form.
Masum Hasan, deputy director of Panchlaish Passport Office, Chattogram told BSS that prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the e-passport program on 22 January.
E-passport activities started on 23 March 23 at the Chattogram Divisional Passport Office.
He said the passport fee has been fixed. The general fee for a 48-page 5-year e-passport is Tk 3,000. The emergency fee is Tk 5,000 and the most urgent fee is Tk 8,000.
Moreover, in case of 10-year passport, the general fee is Tk 8,000, the emergency fee is Tk 9,000 and the most emergency fee is Tk 12,000.
