Half-day hartal protesting gas price hike continues in Dhaka
A half-day hartal in Dhaka protesting at gas price hike is going on Tuesday.
The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) called the hartal in the capital between 6:00am and 12 noon.
SSC examination centres and vehicles carrying examinees, fire service, ambulance, and emergency gas and electricity supply are out of the purview of the shutdown.
In a statement on Friday, the CPB and BSD leaders said they will force the government to back off from its ‘irrational’ decision by waging a mass movement against it.
They urged the city dwellers to make the hartal a success with their support.
On Thursday, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) raised the gas prices for all consumers that will come into effect in two phases.
