Law minister Anisul Huq on Thursday said he visited chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha at his Hare Road official residence and inquired about Sinha's health.
"I visited him (the chief justice). He's taking rest," Anisul Huq told Prothom Alo.
Asked about reports of the CJ's visa application for going to Australia, Anisul said, "I had no talks with him over this and asked him nothing in this connection."
A source close to the minister said he entered the CJ's Hare Road house around 4:00pm and stayed there for around half an hour.
Anisul Huq told the media on Sunday that the chief justice went on a one-month leave beginning on Monday on health grounds.
On Thursday noon, Anisul had a meeting with the acting chief justice, Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, for around an hour.
About that meeting, Anisul said, "It's a courtesy meeting. I assured him of my full cooperation."
The chief justice was vehemently criticised by the ministers and the ruling party leaders for his observations made in the verdict that had annulled the 16th amendment to the constitution.
Sinha assumed office on 17 January, 2015 as the country's 21st chief justice. He is scheduled to go on retirement on 31 January next.
