Plainclothes police arrested former Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury and six other leaders and activists from a house in Wireless Murgi Farm area of the port city of Chattogram on Friday noon on sabotage charge, reports UNB.
Local leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami claimed that a team of DB police raided the house around 12:00pm and arrested Shahjahan along with the party activists.
They said Shahjahan went to the house of former ward councillor and Jamaat leader Mahfuzur Rahman at his invitation.
Amena Begum, additional Commissioner (Crime and Drive) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) said Shahjahan is an accused in several sabotage cases.
