A total of 22 students from various private universities have been taken on two days of remand each in connection with two cases filed on charge of vandalism and attacking policemen.
Following a petition by police Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud passed the order on Tuesday.
The arrested students are from East West University, North South University, Southeast University and Brac University.
Earlier, police officials of the Badda police station produced 14 students before the court while the officials of the Bhatara police station produced eight students. They sought seven-day remand for each of them.
During the hearing on the remand petition, the lawyers of the students alleged that police detained some of the students while they were returning home from the university. They also alleged police tortured the students while in custody.
