Election was fair, didn't get support from administration: Arfanul
Awami League-backed mayoral candidate Arfanul Haque has said the election to the Cumilla City Corporation has been held in a free and fair manner, but he has not got any support from the administration.
After the end of voting, he gave an immediate reaction to Prothom Alo on Wednesday afternoon and said his activists have been harassed and beaten up in some poling stations.
Arfanul Haque alleged, "Police have harassed my workers in several polling stations. Awami League activists and leaders have not disturbed anybody anywhere. Activists were standing in the corner of the road, they were harassed there. This has hurt me."
He hoped, "Boat will certainly win."
Arfanul is contesting elections for the first time. He is general secretary of Cumilla Mohanagar Awami League.
